Meet Daniel Lupisella
I am a seasoned cyber operations engineer and executive with over 15 years of experience in enhancing the security posture of critical infrastructure across commercial and government sectors. My expertise encompasses security operations center improvements, automation, infrastructure enhancements, documentation streamlining, vulnerability remediation plans, and personnel training. I excel in project management, service delivery, technical security testing, and remediation.
Currently, as a Principal Cyber Engineer at Highland Cyber Strategies LLC, I have deployed and troubleshooted single sign-on configurations with Okta, analyzed data loss prevention alerts within Code42, and configured TeamViewer Tensor agents. I successfully architected and established a PRISMA Access and Zscaler environment, diagnosed and resolved CrowdStrike and Zscaler agent issues, and migrated firewall rule sets from Check Point to Palo Alto. Additionally, I implemented zero trust principles for clients, improved Azure resource compliance by 20%, devised a robust monitoring solution for hybrid cloud infrastructure, and optimized Internet-facing applications with F5 load balancing solutions. I also established an SD-WAN network on Fortinet firewalls for enhanced performance and scalability.
Previously, as a Sr. Principal Cyber Engineer at Raytheon, I contributed to the setup and integration of Ivanti Neurons for vulnerability management, provided guidance for Zero Trust initiatives, and analyzed CrowdStrike deployments. I utilized Axonius for cloud resource tracking, delivered vulnerability reporting using Qualys and Tenable, and responded to potential compromises with digital forensic services. I offered consulting services for diverse customer environments, assessed and remediated cloud-hosted virtualization services, developed cybersecurity training materials, and created a dynamic cyber range for analyst training. I also enhanced log analysis with custom Elastic configurations and established robust security policies and procedures.
As a Principal Cyber Engineer at Foreground Security, I redesigned virtual infrastructure with VMware Horizon, Check Point Firewalls, and Cisco Nexus, implemented an AWS hybrid cloud solution, and created architectural diagrams for data center connectivity. I integrated virtual infrastructure with corporate networks, upgraded network and hypervisor backplane on HPE servers and Cisco routers, and performed incident response and vulnerability assessments using various tools. I implemented and maintained security infrastructure, established a continuous monitoring and compliance program, and improved a 24×7 Security Operations Center with automation tactics. I also led an enterprise-wide project to enhance security posture for a government entity and conducted security architecture reviews, design, and implementation.
Earlier in my career as a Security Consultant at Sword & Shield Enterprise Security, I conducted security assessments for government and commercial entities, developed remediation plans, and delivered presentations to executive management. I performed network scanning, vulnerability testing, penetration testing, and assessed information security risks for web applications, networks, and systems. I provided threat analysis and vulnerability management support and developed daily cyber threat briefings.
I hold certifications as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900). I earned my Master of Science in Information Assurance (magna cum laude) from Northeastern University, Boston, MA, in May 2007.
